How would you rate GuildWars?
I havent bought the game yet as i cant afford it just right now, i am currently playing SWG sorta untill they messed teh game up, so a few of us may come and play guildwars.
The people i have spoke to so far say it looks good, but how does it compare to the likes of swg, eq2,wow ?
Is the game balanced with all combat profs, unlike most, is there ganking or not.
If anyone could reply with there thoughts of this game, much would be appreciated and you may see me ingame soon

Well I have played SWG, and WoW. In my opinion SWG did alot of things right with catina's, factions, bases, towns, etc. They also did some stuff wrong, such as jedi. The story in SWG was one perpetuated by interacting with everyone.
WoW was a huge dissappointment for me. There was no meaningful pvp, guilds were spread out because of lack of making guildhalls, and the missions quickly became repititive with "go fetch this" or "go kill that" quests. It felt as if no one could have any say in how the world went, it was up to the developers. When I bought the game I thought it would be like Warcraft3 in that I would be one of the units, and there would be an actual army. Instead I get to go find some farmers pumpkins.
Now I have only played GW for 2 days. The instancing of everything outside towns is a huge plus for me. No longer does wilderness have hordes of people (like in WoW). The story line is actually interesting. The game has not been boring so far. I hope it does turn out to be a great game.

It doesn't. Not the same type of game at all.
It's close to (online) Diablo 2 and Dungeon Seige, but it takes a big step forward by eliminating the lobby system and adding gathering places like towns. PvP is fun and more balanced. It also requires more skill than those games, you can't wade into fights without thinking about how to win or you'll die fast. Even against stuff less than half your level.

Ok. Thanks for the replys. Diablo 2 is a great game, so thats a plus to playing this one.
But is there anything else that this game will offer that some dont, how much content is there in the game? is it a team game or solo ?

There is not a "huge" amount of content from what I have seen, but there's a lot more than what Diablo 2 had at release.
It's a team game, you can't do much alone after level 10. But, just like Dungeon Seige you can have NPC party members that tag along. So you can play the whole thing solo with these henchmen if you want, or you can team with other players.

This thread is about how you rate Guild Wars, not other MMOs.

I would rate it on a scale between 1 and 10, with 1 the lowest and 10 being the highest.

There's no ganking. All player vs. player combat (PvP) occurs in the Arena, the Tombs, or other "competitive missions". No one can attack you by surprise while you're out exploring, questing, or doing cooperative missions. And the game is fairly well balanced, but it's balanced for team play -- don't expect your healer monk to go toe to toe with an axe murde..., er, warrior and survive. At least, not without backup.
As far as rating it, I'd give the game an 8 out of 10. It looses a couple of points due to only having four character slots. For a game with six professions and a great variety of ways to play, being able to only explore four of the options without being forced to delete or otherwise mangle a previous character is a big drawback. It's the ability to explore the couple dozen different viable builds that sustained my interest in Diablo II as long as it did. It's been suggested that additional slots will be made available with each expansion (since they'll add new classes, you'll pretty much need them) -- if that's the case, the game may earn a higher rating from me at that time, although until there's at least one more slot than available professions, it won't make a 10.
But aside from that (what is for me) big drawback, the game is near perfect in every other respect. It's exactly what I like in a great action RPG.

Depends...it could settle around 9.1-8.9. WoW overall is 9.3 with 11k
I don't see it going below 8.5. Also if someone doesn't like the game, they just mark it down to 1. So like I said, take it as opinions only.

we need to find those people that don't like it. Then we should just stand there and stare at them, face to face. During which time someone stands next to them and performs a full gaming profile on them and see if they are even qualified to vote. I bet they aren't. Dangit, I just tore my shirt.

Different between comparing and writing up crap about a different MMO that you do not like for no particular reason.
